We recently assisted the National Police Air Service (NPAS) at their North Weald base by transporting a heli-lift using our specialist vehicles. This sensitive and complex move required precision planning, trusted partnerships, and a strong understanding of aviation logistics. Our team carried out on-site assessments and deployed the right resources to ensure a seamless, secure delivery, further deepening our long-standing relationship with NPAS.
About NPAS
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) provides air support to police forces across England and Wales. Operating a fleet of specially equipped helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, NPAS plays a critical role in policing by offering aerial surveillance, support for ground units, and rapid response capabilities. With a base at North Weald, NPAS is known for its fast-paced operations, high-security environment, and the need for precision in both equipment and logistics.
The challenge
NPAS required the transport of a heli-lift from their North Weald base, a task involving sensitive aviation equipment and logistical complexity. The vehicle used belonged to a subcontractor and needed to be presented without any external branding or identifiers for client-facing materials. The challenge was to ensure the move was completed securely, discreetly, and on schedule.
What did NPAS want to achieve with this move?
Their key objectives they relayed to our team before we took on the project was to safely transport a specialist heli-lift, ensure vehicle compatibility through precise measurement, and maintain discretion by removing subcontractor branding. Using our expertise and knowledge, we were able to exceed their expectations and strengthen their trust in our logistic services through direct, on-site involvement.
How we approached this move
We firstly began by completing a site visit, where we visited the North Weald base to personally measure the equipment and confirm load compatibility. Based on the site assessment, a suitable specialist vehicle was selected to accommodate the heli-lift’s dimensions and handling needs.
To ensure visual discretion, the subcontractor’s branding and number plate were digitally removed from images for promotional use. Throughout, we directly communicated and coordinated with Kevin Flinn at NPAS to allow for a smooth operation from planning to delivery.
The results
The heli-lift was successfully delivered without issue, meeting all logistical and operational requirements, this meant that our client, NPAS, appreciated our efforts and complimented the precision and professionalism of the service we provided, enhancing our relationship with the team.
